Hi Lloyd-

I have just (three weeks ago) completed my interferon treatment and so far am cured. I go back in six months for the final test. I was so excited and feel so blessed to be cured., but I am having a few side effects. My skin itches so bad all over that I am scrathing 100% of the time. I have tried everything out there that a Dr. would suggest and nothing is working. My skin took the brunt of this treatment, along with the other side effects while on treatment. I don't know if you can relate to non-stop itching but, it is truly making me crazy. My sister also did the interferon with me, and she doesn’t look healthy either. What are the typical side effects we should expect from interferon treatment for Hep C? Will we ever have our strength back, we were very active women. We do not drink (of course.) Dealing with menopause and this is unbearable.

Thank you for caring enough to have this website. After years of discrimation by Dr.s when I mentioned my Hep C, it's nice to be taken seriously and respectfully.

Thank you-
Leslie

Hi Leslie:

I am very happy that you are at this time a responder, do not hear that much. Hopefully you will still be non detected in 6 months. It would be wise to check it each year as HCV does come back in almost all cases, the drug companies just do not like to admit it, doctors do not check.

There can be many side effects from interferon.
The drug causes brain damage in the brain stem where it interferes with neuro transmitters.
Most of the side effects come from that.

For this etching, SAMe is the only thing that has been recognized to actually stop the itching in hep c. It works in 90%+ of the people that try it that I suggest it to.

If you like, I am happy to send you a sample so you can see if it works for you, just need a address.

There are many side effects that come along after taking interferon. One is damage to the pancreas.
Looking older is common, 10 to 20 years is normal. Serious arthritis can come along, serious bone pain.
Hopefully you will be spared of these problems.

In good health
Lloyd
