Dear Mr. Wright:
My husband was diagnosed with HCV about two and a half years ago. He went through the interferon treatment for six months and was told in June of 2005 that he was free of the virus. (He is genotype 3.)
He had some blood work done recently because he hasn't been feeling well. He tested positive for HCV and his liver enzymes are higher than they ever were.
AST is 555 and ALT is 333. His viral load is 7,830,000, which is also higher than the load he had before treatment. He has been to a hepatologist who thinks something else is going on because of the elevated liver enzymes. We are waiting for the results from the blood tests.
Meanwhile, he does not feel well at all. This doctor suggested interferon treatment again for a year. I do not think he can tolerate that, nor do I want him to have to suffer through all that again. I found your book on the web and have ordered it. I think we need to try a natural treatment. I was wondering if you would have any idea as to why his enzymes are so high. I've researched diseases associated with high enzymes and he doesn't seem to have those symptoms. Any ideas you might have would be very helpful and much appreciated.
Thank you,
Valerie M.
Hi Valerie:
Your email is the 12 one I am answering this morning with just about the same issue. Interfeorns do not work. After use, the viral load goes up 3 x baseline on average.
Your husband needs a ferritin level test. This is a simple blood test. High ferritin is usually the reason the ast & alt are high. Doctors will not agree, they will miss this and spend thousands of your dollars looking for all kinds of stuff. It can be other things but ferritin is the first thing to look for.
If you have his lab work, fax it to me at 310 457 9449. I may be able to see what is going on with what you have. If you do not have copies, you can call the dr. office and ask them to fax it. If interferon does not work the first time, it never works the second time.
I will never fully understand why these people who call themselves doctors are treating humans the way they do. I may sound sick of this but I see human suffering everyday, all day long caused by doctors who keep doing the same thing.
High ferritin will cause one to feel lousy. You can easily lower the ferritin level by taking IP6. This item has to be taken on a empty stomach. It will not work if mixed with anything. This is the link about IP6
In good health
