Dear Lloyd
My history is i was treated for Hep c starting in june 2000, i finished treatment end of may 2001. I started on reg interferon and ribavirin and after 36 weeks swicthed to peg intron, The virus has been undectable since week 12 of treatment and still is over 5 years post treatment.
The problem is I still have days where I still do not feel well. Especially since aug 2005 the symptoms increased in freqency and severity. Prior to Aug 2005 I would feel bad on average of 7 days a month, since aug 2005 14 days a month.
The feelings of fatigue, flu like feeling and headaches have increased in frequency and severity it reminds me of being back on the interferon. The flu like feeling seems to be my biggest problem. My hepatologist told me to check on cfs disease, my internist thinks it is from the interferon. What do you think the cause is and what will help it. Do you think it will just go away in time. and if so how long? is this common I also get flushness in my face I would appreciare your help.
regards george
Hello George:
I read this all the time from people who have used interferon. Not many say they do not have HCV anymore but they all have other problems many like you describe.
There is no doubt that it is from interferon. I have the same feelings you describe, not as often but I have them. No orthodox doctor can tell me what they are.
I have tried everything, usually these things are caused from brain damage caused by interferon toxicity and I do not know how to fix brains. Sometimes they fix themselves.
You can have interferon in your system for years. Interferon is a natural occurring item in your body. When your body produces to much it makes you feel sick, like when you have the flu. The sickness you feel is actually your bodies response to the virus. To much interferon makes one feel sick. When you take large doses of a synthetic copy, all kinds of things happen to your body. The system often produces more than it needs, causing the symptoms you describe.
I do not know how to fix it, I just know that if people would learn to Just Say No to Interferon, they would all be allot better off.
You can try NADH, 2.5 mg once each morning, it helps some people.
In good health
