My son took Interferon for Hep C - I'm not certain of the dosage but know
he was "deathly ill" while using it, it was months he
took it, and had to quit working.
Went back to work, was told he no longer showed Hep C in his tests.
Flu-like symptoms continued, then upon awaking terrible pain and
stiffness and poor vision, then problems with legs giving way, began
falling, had trouble driving, dizziness - had a bad fall last May
(04) and since then has had all sorts of extreme neurological problems,
walked for a short time with a walker, then graduated to a wheelchair
where he has been ever since.
All of his bloodwork and tests have showed nothing - everything
comes back negative - so doctors say they have no idea what is causing
his problems - his doctor won't even mention the word Interferon
- no treatment being given except pain medicine and medicine for
stomach problems and something for seizures and tremors, I believe
it is medicine given to muscular dystrophy patients.
All this time he has suffered terrible pain, unrelenting pain,
all over his body, and now he has started sleeping most of the time,
almost a coma like sleep, falls asleep eating, in front of computer,
smoking a cigarette, can't stay awake and upon awaking feels like
he can't 'come around'. Lots of symptoms: sweating, weakness, bowel
problems, memory problems, can't stand on his feet w/o shaking and
upon least exertion starts spasms and tremors - symptoms change
day to day - except for the sleeping which now is all the time.
He has been to lots of doctors and had lots of tests - neurologists,
muscle specialists, scans, etc., nothing comes back showing any
diagnosis. Recently had a spinal tap and his doctor said it showed
nothing significant.
Doctor said his insurance company is going to stop paying for tests
because nothing is showing up as a positive diagnosis. He is getting
very depressed and feeling hopeless. I wonder if there is anything
that can be done for him at this point in time?
He is in his 40's and has not yet been able to get disability because
his doctor keeps saying "we don't know what is wrong with you".
I hope Interferon has been taken off the market.
Thank you for reading this. Any information greatly appreciated.

Hi Anne:
Your son is a victim of interferon. It does this to a lot of people.
If you read the side
effects of interferon you will see that everything
you mention is listed. I get emails like yours every day. It is
making me sick.
I have been telling people for 6 years that interferon is like
Russian Roulette. Many people are permanently damaged from it and
it is just not worth the risk!
You can join the class
action suit against Schering Plough and see what happens.
It is listed on my message board in 2004. Do not expect any doctor
to admit anything about what interferon did to him.
Usually this is damage to the neurotransmitters in the brain stem.
I wrote about this in my book. This damage is usually permanent
but it may have less effect in time and it may not. In the mean
time he can take NADH.
After reading these types of emails for 6 years I feel like I live
in a 3rd world country. Not many people take me as serious as they
should. I have been to Washington to talk with congressmen and senators
about it. I have sent the president a note about it.
I am on a crusade to stop the use of interferon as hep
c can be controlled and even cured with proper nutrition. Taking
interferon for it is simply not a responsible thing to have people
do.

This
may help as well.
My slogan is:
"Just Say No to Interferon"! and at least you understand
why!
In good health
