lloyd;
I am a 50 year old male with hepatis c. In January of this year
I started interferon treatment at the suggestion of a local G.I.
I was told that I might get a few mild flu like symptons, but they
usually only lasted for a few hours after the first and second injections.
After 2 months I gave up. The weekly injections and daily doses
were killing me. I contacted the department and was told all side
effects should disappear in about a month, and they did. Sounds
to good to be true eh! Well it is. I was just starting to get back
to my life when I noticed a ringing in my ears that has now reached
a level that keeps me medicated and mostly in bed.
I have been diagnosed with tinnitus as a result of a hearing loss.
My hearing has always been excellent and I had never before suffered
from any type of ear injury or any other of the many listed causes
of tinnitus.
In desperation my wife mentioned the other day that "I'll
bet it was from that f***in interferon". I started a search
and in less than a second I was at your sight, and there at the
bottom of the page was a reference to
patient 068 and a hearing loss associated with
interferon.
My questions to you are ;
Has any follow up been done to find out if her hearing loss returned.
And are you aware of any Canadian groups that are going after these
bastards.
Thank You so much for taking the time to read this and hopefully
responding.
With Regards
Mark B.
